CHOOSING A SURFACE

CHOOSING A SURFACE

There are hundreds of laminate colours/patterns & finishes. These range from vibrant solid colours to hundreds of patterns designed to look like wood and stone. Laminate also offers more edge choices than other natural materials and only laminate can be formed into a seamless coved splashback to keep spills from seeping behind the cabinets.
Laminate bench tops, like those made from granite and engineered stone, have seams where the bench top sections come together and this is un-avoidable.
Bench tops come into direct contact with foods. Laminate bench tops are a non-porous surface making them an ideal choice for kitchens. Laminate is easy to clean, and spills like wine and sauce come off with little effort.
Bench tops are meant to be used, so expect normal wear and tear with your laminate bench top. Heat will cause the most damage. A hot pot on laminate may leave a scorch mark. A good rule of thumb with any countertop is that if a pot is too hot to handle, don’t set it down on a bench top; use a chopping board or trivet. Laminate is a strong material, but it won’t resist a determined attempt to cut it with a knife.
